Dear Mr Politician

14 February 2014, 07:36

Dear Mr/Mrs Politician.(You know who you are)

I am sure by now you have forgotten who I am even though you will be knocking on my door very soon. Remember just a few years back when you came with your big smile and dressed in your best; you got out of your silver mercedes and wiped the dust off your shiny shoes. I invited you into my humble home, I told you my life story and poured my heart out to you and you listened intently to every word and then you made your grand speech, filled with big words and promises. You need my vote you kept reminding me, to do everything that I had asked for. My support and my vote and the rainbow colored dream that you painted would all come true. What a fool I was to have believed you, just a few months later it dawned upon me that all your promises was nothing more than loud farts! What do you take me for?

I’m sure as your sitting in your air-conditioned corner office; you must be wondering who I think I am to write this letter to you, what nerve I have to dare disturb you from your busy schedule. I am the very person who was gullible enough to believe your lies, the very person who got up early on Election Day and wasted my time to go and vote for you. You have forgotten about my eldest son who needs a job, about the terrible conditions we are living in, about the muddy roads and the unsafe areas in my community. My vote elevated you to where you are sitting right now but it’s OK, I survived without the service delivery, I survived without the job, I survived without the water and electricity. So now you will just have to survive without my vote because you see, I am not wasting my vote on you this time.

This year I am voting for the person and party that truly has my interests at heart.

Enjoy your day.

Regards

Disgruntled Voter.
