Reflections after a day of mixed emotions:
Dear Mr Zuma, I'd like to address you as Mr President but I cannot! Today we celebrated the reality and life of a true President. Someone who lived and died for a better life for all, not a better life for some! We celebrated someone who sacrificed and shared in a world of abundance, now we have a President that consumes and distributes for the privilege of a select few. World leaders recognized our hope and the relevance of a man that did so much for our freedom. They did it with empathy, emotion and awareness. You could've but chose not to Mr Zuma!
The World recognized our progress under Madiba and like him, they acknowledged we have some way to go to ensure everyone's life is touched in a real and practical way! Your very own people recognized you as well Mr Zuma, and when they did they gestured to you in a way that not only embarrassed you in the eyes of the world but they told you that you are not their President.
When you were in the presence of Madiba how did you feel about Nkandla, the spy tapes, the daily service delivery protests and the current division in the ANC and alliance partners? Is your conscience clear given all you heard and said about how we should endeavor to live the life Madiba wanted?
This is why Mr Zuma I cannot call you Mr President because it is evident that you don't think, act and talk like one! My President puts the peoples' hopes and needs before his own. I voted for the ANC under the leadership and vision of Madiba but you have turned their "calling" into a feast of greed and self enrichment and this saddens me!
When President Obama learnt of Madiba he said he was 'stirred inside' and 'driven to be a better person!' What will people say when you are gone Mr Zuma? How will they talk about your vision, leadership and legacy? Do you even care? My President would!
