Dear Nancy...

09 October 2012, 10:51

Dear Nancy,

Having read the 4 articles posted by yourself, I have to award you 10 out of 10 for perseverance, but I cannot consider a pass mark, (even by the SA DoE of 30%), for your insight and erm... well frankly, your intellect. I am harsh and perchance not Christian like, but this you have to understand, is because I keep on finding myself thinking at times that perhaps you are just a cheap little troll, and not really what you hold yourself forth to be.

You claim to have received approbation from so many fellow Christians, but an observation would be that they surely do not en force support you on these forums. In fact some, and here I include myself, have actually chastised you, although not as severe as “The Atheists” had done.

Now you have made many assertions, but there are some aversions/hates/statements that I cannot let go past as I would be doing a disservice to Christians and the image you portray of them. I wish to refer you in the particular to the statements made about Catholics, the Internet, Gays, Cosplay, Pornography, Evolution/Science and the cherry picking bit out of the Revelation.

Now I do not know what profession you followed prior to your retirement, but an analogy would suit as follows. I am as false as a R3-00 coin (even were you to put Zuma’s face on it), where singing is concerned, and cannot even play on the linoleum. I would thus not get involved with Andrea Bocelli in an argument with regards to whether he did reach C#5, and exactly which exercises he should use to sustain such a note during his rendition of Cujus Animam. Neither would I condemn Lillian Blauvelt for singing the Jewel song from Faust.

From your insights and comments it is quite clear that you should therefore really not engage in statements or arguments with people who are abundantly more educated with regards to the sciences in general and Evolution in particular. (It does provide for a good laugh and yes some comments are exceedingly funny. Yours the former and not the latter). Unfortunately it does your cause no good; in fact only harm.

You condemn Cosplay, but it is ok to dress a kid to play Joseph, Mary, a Magician or an angel during the Christmas Nativity Play? Or even worse, a donkey or a sheep? You are critical of the Internet, yet it is the same Internet that can be used to heal the sick in remote places? Do you blame Carl Benz and Henry Ford for the +/-30 people that died on our roads today?

You rave against Catholics and focus on some priests going beyond the pale, yet you ignore the work of Sister Theresa? The Jewish children saved during WW2 by RC priests? The Jesuit schools?

Pornography includes Literotica, yet you condone me typing as follows: “Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth, for your love is more delightful than wine. His left arm is under my head and his right arm embraces me. My beloved thrust his hand through the latch-opening; my heart began to pound for him. Your breasts are like two fawns, like twin fawns of a gazelle.....”

Do you hate and shun men with long hair? With ragged beards? Dirty unwashed people? Prostitutes? Fraudsters? Violent people? Drunkards? Atheists? Believers in other gods? Murderers? Thieves? Traitors? Are they welcome in your church? Or only after they have repented and cleaned up their act? Are the Car Guards welcome?

Funny that these were the people that Jesus were mates with. With whom he consorted daily. You speak out against gays, and I ask where your compassion is? You want me to believe that a child sleeping in his Spiderman outfit will turn into a homosexual?

I have read your interpretation of a part of an apocalyptic writing, and you profess that John saw a helicopter. Yet you miss out on telling us how they came to come out of a hole in the ground. You did not comment on the fact that these helicopters did not kill anyone. They tormented people for 5 months. Pretty useless helicopters if you ask me.

You skipped the bits about the sack over the sun and the other excerpts that may be interpreted as the aftermath of nuclear explosions or a meteorite hitting Earth. Which is perhaps a bit more to the bone? A comment was made re the 144000 saved ones, which was not quite correct as they were the ones sealed [and saved]. There also “was a great multitude [in white robes] that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language. My italics. (Not just White, South African, Protestants!)

So Nancy, you do not have to “fight” for Christ. Unless you are stuck on the OT. If you MUST take on someone re his or her belief framework (or lack thereof), then do so from a position of strength i.e. having knowledge and compassion. No using half truths, displaying a lack of knowledge and quoting selective bits and pieces from the Bible. You have yet to convince me that you “have easily tied them in knots” or “have ended an argument now”.

I will leave you with some thoughts:

Where in the Bible does it ever suggest that Man should be so arrogant to believe that Man is a unique life form in the Universe?

If Evolution is true as proclaimed by the “Atheists” [fact is that many non-atheists also believe so]; what would prevent you from going to Heaven?

In the parable of the Prodigal Son, the elder one who stayed with his father, was severely p.....-off. Did he have the right to be so?

Anticipating your response.

Yours sincerely,

Desilusionada.
