I have read the articles “Dear White People in South Africa” and thought it to be utter drivel. I have read the article “Dear Black Person” and thought that there are some issues which were not mentioned, maybe intentionally, maybe not.
Just to set the score straight, I am a White man in my thirties and I am Afrikaans speaking, which in most cases makes me the enemy in the eyes of our current Government and most Black People alike. WOOOOOOOO!!! Scary!!! Here is a lot of White People’s take.
Firstly, we have the same old story that all businesses are owned by white people and blah blah. I think there is a misconception that these businesses were handed to white people. Given to them for free by the old Apartheid Regime. If so, I am also upset, because why was my family overlooked? I also want to have my own business. The fact of the matter is that most of these owners of businesses (or your so called White ownership of industries), worked to get their businesses where they are today and continue to work hard to keep them where they are. Blood, sweat and hard work. Nothing was handed to them, yet my Black brothers expect everything that these people have worked so hard for, to just be handed over to equalize something. What, only they will know.
Secondly, we have the whole thing about education inequalities. White people are given an education for free. Or so most Black People are led to believe. Utter nonsense. White people work hard to support for their families and pay the exorbitant school fees that schools ask these days, to give their children an education which will in turn give them the tools to work hard and built industries or work in them. We pay for that. Key word here is PAY. In the world of White People it works like this: if we don’t pay, there is no school for our kids.
Why do you blame white people for Educational Inequalities, when students at black schools burn them down or somehow otherwise vandalize their schools? When the government that you voted for fails horribly to provide the services needed to educate a child? Why do you blame Whites when you don’t have to pay for your child’s education, but we have to?
You go on about your poor. Where at least 15 million poor Black People receive survival benefits and food aid, child benefits etc., but poor White People are denied those rights? You receive RDP houses, but poor Whites are denied that right? They also live in squatter camps, but that fact seems to elude you. Where affirmative action has denied these people a chance to work and support their families? Now how does that figure in with your misconception that all White People roll in money? Wake up and smell the homeless, there are lots of starving White People out there, but our Government cares even less about them than they do about starving Black People.
Funny thing, I see more Black People these days driving BMW’s and Mercedes’ than White People. Actually some of the biggest houses in my neighbourhood are owned by Black People. Now what now? How does your arguments factor into the fact that I drive a Corsa and my Black neighbour drives an X5?
Talk about jobs. Most Whites are denied jobs because of affirmative action. Even now in the news, white applicants for the SAA Cadet programme are declined outright, without even looking at them. The online application process is actually set up that way. Decline the White People. Now how does that figure into your thinking that we white people just get everything handed to them? And that is just one example.
Most people in their twenties today don’t even know what Apartheid was, yet the White portion of people in their twenties gets blamed every time along with the rest of the White Population for Apartheid. Now we understand that you will never let go of Apartheid, because it gives you something to piss and moan and blame Whites for and it gives the ANC Government something to blame when they want to steal some more or to cover up the fact that they have no idea what they are doing, but it is really getting a bit old. And it’s been, what, almost twenty years now?
I was a child in the Apartheid regime, and I still don’t really understand how it worked, yet you think I should be forgiven for something. I don’t know what. The fact that I’m White? I have to be forgiven for “past injustices perpetrated by an Imperialist White government which you Black People suffered collectively under”. Really? That is the most idiotic drivel I have ever heard. Me as a person, have not perpetrated anything on anyone. But evidently I will not be forgiven. Neither will my children, their children and their grandchildren until the end of time. So, hold on to that if it vindicates some reason for you to hate.
How did you suffer? Were you beaten with sticks everyday? Or treated as slaves? Or did the government take White peoples taxes and build schools for Black children? Schools for your children? How barbaric of those White Colonialists.
I’m not saying that Apartheid was right or anything. All I’m saying here is that Black People didn’t suffer as much as they claim to have suffered. As far as I understand there were less poor people back then than there are now. I could be wrong in what I read, but that is what old FW claimed.
Also, most of you were not even yet born in the Apartheid Era, but you heard of it and now you have to blame those pale faces for it, whatever it was. We don’t know what it was or how it worked, but my father said so and so, although he also isn’t sure. But let us blame everything on that.
Another thing is that you protest and burn tyres and damage other people’s property because you don’t have houses or whatever. You just want it handed to you. But me, poor White guy, I have to pay for those things. With money that I work hard for. If I have to decide to burn tyres and throw rocks, I will be locked up before I could get the first stanza of my pissed off chant going. And I pay taxes. How funny is that?
Then point here is the fact that no White Person has anything handed to them for nothing. We have to work for everything and pay for it with money. Money that we EARNED from working hard in industries that were according to Black People just given to White People, where hard work had nothing to do with anything.
And don’t threaten. It’s is not nice and does not scare White People anyway. Oh, I forgot, only White People are Racist…
