You know the major difference between Johannesburg and Cape Town for me? With Johannesburg I couldn't be bothered to discover new places - it just felt so forced - whereas in Cape Town I'm at a loss where to start.
Yes, it's true, I've finally taken the plunge and moved down to the fairest Cape with my wife, and it's a little daunting if only because it's not a clearly defined city like Johannesburg is.
Maybe it's just my mind playing tricks with me because everything's still pretty unfamiliar, but I really wish there was a guidebook for Cape Town written for new residents and not just tourists.
So if you know Cape Town, please do share any pearls of wisdom, no matter how obscure a subject. Things like the Signal Hill viewpoint I've already managed to discover and enjoy, but I get the feeling I could spend the rest of my life trying to discover Cape Town's various nooks and grannies (pun intended).
PS: I just had a nasty shock today discovering that yes, Cape Town really does have some pretty awful traffic along major routes, so I'm sincerely hoping that the new GPS I bought toda with its HD Traffic service will find some magical corridors for me through that bird's nest of winding back-roads tomorrow. Any experiences with the reliability of these services in the real world of CT traffic?
