I keep hearing people call South Africa democracy, and I was thinking about that. What does it really mean?
In this case, it seems like it's a popularity contest. The politicians who are the best at lying are the most popular, so they get power.
Simple, but not very effective.
I have an idea that might force the ANC to improve education, and create a more balanced democracy as well: IQ based voting.
The idea is simple: IQ test every votor. Make it another bar code in their ID - so that no one knows it, but it's still easy to track.
Announce the national average IQ.
Then base every vote on a sliding scale: those who score above average get more votes, and those who score below average get less.
Now you may argue that this is unfair - except that it's a black South African who works for NASA, and there are also a couple of black nuclear physicists etc out there. Plus, when last did you talk to the average 'breeker' from the Afrikaans community? It's not their grey matter that makes them imposing!
In war, it's physical strength that determines victory. Shouldn't it be reasoning power that determines everything else?
