I have always taken pride in my insights and ability to inspire and share my thoughts with willing listeners. But sometimes people just don't listen.
When I decided to start writing for the News24, I made a deliberate effort to concentrate on what is the current news and topics of the day and week. That way my writings can stay fresh and relevant.
But what I never expected to find from people, was such hostilities and negative statements about my work as a writer/journalistic beginner.
It seems it's this same group (or maybe just one or two people who are nasty) who keep commenting negatively on people's articles like mine.
As soon as you have a different opinion then you are called names and people get personal with you. You are a troll, you can see through hose pipes, rubbish like that!
I wish to remind each and every person about what democracy actually does mean. We are all free and have the freedom to have different opinions. And one another thing, we are free to disagree. That is democracy.
There really is not a single need or urge for people to ridicule like what has been happening. Maybe it's just a maturity issue with inmature people having to prove for themselves or show someone something that they could never do in person.
So please, I would like to continue for mutual respect and for all people to at least be civil as we continue these wonderful and insightful debates which certainly can inspire a nations of rainbows.
