DENTAL SEAL SOLUTION.
For the time being we will give seal culling and other seal related killing matters a bone and touch onto a more convenient seal issues like the dental situation of the critters. In my heyday, 1960’s seals had the habit of culling themselves. This indicated that Richard Dawking was correct all along with his evolutionary theories and Darwin too.
Seals get sick like users, myself, Americans and most other living creatures. Problem here is sick seals tend to wash out of the sea and end up on the beach where they die. Very clean indeed: no culling no brain bashing, no shooting just a gentle “Death do us apart” RIP. When the stench becomes just too much the municipalities collect the carcases and dump them elsewhere: that is where the apprentice comes into the picture and must arrive before the municipality arrives.
Despite eating smelly fish the teeth of seals are remarkably white. When they are extracted and cleaned, then buffed and polished they be come an article of desire when slung around the neck and dangling on a chain. Yes, the appies were after the teeth. As per usual the largest teeth were the most desired. And of course a S O B to extract. these well installed gnashers.
The common vice grip was the tool of preference but tend to score the teeth which in turn takes time and effort to erase. The best way found to extract the teeth was to use a light hammer and chisel to break away the bone structure surrounding the teeth. Working on carrion has the disadvantage of stench. Even after the animal is dead for a day or two the stench steps in. The teeth are boiled in water and cleaned of any debris then scraped of all foreign matter which may adhere to them.
The final result is an object, opalescent and a beauty in its own way. The wiser and richer apprentices usually took the tooth to a jewellers where the chain was fitted.
