Good Morning,
I write to you today in the mind set firmly in the Friday mould, that being a mould of weekend boozing, Baby Boks awesomeness and rose eating glee. It is indeed a weekend worthy of a few cold beers and good old South African winter bliss.
This being the mind set but not the point I wish to get through to whoever happens to be in the same mind set as myself. Today I wish to speak to you lovely (and hopefully deep of the pockets) people. As you may well know, or not know, there is an event which happens once a year in which bikers, quads (those dust spewing things), sides by sides and trail bikes get together for an epic event in which not only manliness, bikes and speed are done on a daily basis but also awareness for a certain organisation being the actual main focus of the event. This organisation being QASA (QuadPara Association of South Africa), along with the awareness of this great organisation comes the fund raising part. A part in which we as Dirty Souties wish to try and help.
Quads for Quads is an event organised by family Adventures (www.familyadventures.co.za) in which bikers (the off-road variety) travel from JHB (or should I say Carnival City) all the way to that Guppie loving province of Kwa-Zulu Natal. This is achieved over 4 days covering a distance of 1,000km all on dirt roads (there is parts on tar but these are few and far between). Once they land in Ballito, they rest and then turn around and head back up to Carnival City – its Epic, crazy but utterly the best thing an off road biker can experience.
I ride for a group called the Dirty Souties, I say a group or gang but its more just a group of friends who enjoying riding and having a party afterwards. Our group literally started off by doing Q4Q’s 2011 and man was it epic. 2 Amateurs, 1 experienced riders and a back-up crew known for their drinking prowess – its was literally the best 4 days of my life. We did the up run, that being from Ballito to JHB. It varied from hills, to muddy roads, to cane fields, to crossing raging torrents of rivers, crossing bridges, going through tunnels darker than the space between my ears and ending in a bike filled mass ride in at Carnival City. When I say its a ride to remember please believe me I am not exaggerating – the experience I rate up there with the Lions beating the Guppies, plain awesomeness.
Now, to the main part of this long spiel of an article and I sincerely hope you are still reading. The Dirty Souties are now an established group (by established I mean we have tops), and along with our establishment and all round greatness, we are looking at doing a little fund raising this year. All funds raised are to go to QASA and not to the Dirty Souties. We aim to enjoy ourselves thoroughly, but in so doing look to help in this worthy cause.
Now I know its generally harder to get money out of people than it is to get the Bulls to stop kicking, but give a Soutie credit for trying. We are looking at all avenues for help, be it through a donation, sponsorship of a riders, sponsorship per km done, maybe a prize or piece of memorabilia for the Auction held on the 2nd night of riding, anything – we accept it all.
If you find it within yourself to help out please contact me at cousins.scott@gmail.com , I really look forward to hearing from you, and come on, you have read this far so carry on and pop me a mail so we can organise something awesome for the ride – please once again anything helps!
And remember, live life as if you own a KTM, rock hard as if your on a KTM and above all, ride a KTM.
Regards
Scottytoohotty
