Do not let religious differences divide us.

26 June 2014, 11:00

I accept as true that religion was meant to unite us but over the years we have caused it to divide us as human beings. People have used religion as an excuse to do things that are wrong. Religion is becoming just another squabble that is causing wars, discrimination and pure hatred. People are arguing and fighting about whether Jesus, God, Allah or other religious beliefs are real. For instance look at how Christians and Muslims in Nigerian are doing.  Even if we don’t have faith in one religion and beliefs we need to learn how to accept it into our lives. If we endure our ignorant ways, religion will continue to divide us.

Just when we thought we conquered the fight against apartheid / white supremacy now we have this, look how Nigerian Christians are murdered in the name of religion. Why it is that one’s religion is dangerous for the other? All these religions lead to ludicrousness and violence. It doesn't matter who they call "God" People use their faith to condone evil behavior. Modern religion has killed more people than cancer and HIV. Why can’t we all just live in peace and accept each other’s religions?

Today’s religions influence people that they are doing well whilst committing the most hideous crimes against humanity. We have churches that continue to control people, sell Jesus and collect money. Remember how the Pope told African people that condoms are wrong? Then we had close to 24 millions of people infected with HIV, with the absence of a miraculous medicine people die every day. Remember the anti-homosexuality law in Uganda? All in the name of Christianity. Not to mention homophobia, torture, self-esteem issues, misogyny, forced celibacy, anti-abortion etc.

Do not let religious differences divide us.
