“We cannot be selective and only obey the laws we like. E-tolling is now law, and all law abiding citizens should abide by its regulations!”~ Elizabeth Dipuo Peters, Minister of Transport.
Well, honourable minister, the Group Areas Act was a law in this country, the Mixed Marriages Act was a law in this country, the Job Reservations Act was a law in this country, the Bantu Educations Act was a law in this country, the separate Amenities Act was a law in this country, the Population Registration act was a law in this country, the Separate Development Act was a law in this country, the Immorality Act was law in this country, etc, etc, etc. Law abiding citizens sacrificed everything to disobey those laws.
E-tolling is a stupid law. It is ill conceived and created to grossly enrich certain politically well connected entities. It is intended to making ordinary citizens victims of fraud, corruption and mal-administration. It is unworkable, and the benefits for those who you expect to pay for it is negligible to none.
Why should we, the ordinary citizens, abide by a law that will contribute to inflation, accelerate the spreading of poverty and to the further dismantling of the middleclass?
It is a stupid law, implemented with one purpose and one purpose only, to milk the unexpected taxpayers further for the enrichment of the political classes.
“Do not pay e tolls! Do not buy e tags! Disobey this patently corrupt law! They cannot put all of us in jail! Join protest organisations and actions against this law. Vote for politicians that openly state their opposition to this law and promise to dismantle it.”
