For many years I have been watching what happens to people, families and even nations, wondering why bad things happen. One thing I realized was that nothing just happens out of the blue and that there are always reasons. Sadly I have also realized that human beings for the most part refuse to confront these reasons, especially of they are the cause of stupid, bad or downright evil things that happen.
Most men and women of South Africa are no different and for the most part proper debate is almost impossible when people are pushed into facing certain truths or the views of others. Sadly we are letting ourselves down and I believe also letting down the generations of the future. How can we make a better future for everyone if we do not find solutions to our problems but keep struggling from one bad occurrence to another?
It is time we face the past, face our current situation and then start an open dialogue on where we want to go. This should take into account the right of nations to self-determination and the individual rights of men and women. This dialogue should be held without any party political interference. We have some very wise and highly trained people at universities and in the private sector who could assist us in getting this dialogue of the ground and we should use them for this. Rather than wasting tax money on these New Age debates, which benefits only the ANC and the Gupta's, it should be spent in the way proposed here.
Just maybe we still have a chance to ensure that future generations will not think of us as the idiots who stole their future.
