Do you vote ANC out of spite?

09 April 2014, 13:06

I wouldn’t assume to know the reason why anybody would vote for the current ANC. But after submitting an anti-ANC article, I received one response that said…“We knw jz is nt a thief n we dnt hv 2b angry nkandla or no nkandla we vote ANC 4life u cnt change us bark bark bark mayb the moon wil fall”

I apologize to this user for making him feel like I was trying to change him. My article merely made a plea; a request that he does not vote for ANC so that the majority could benefit.

However, his comment made me wonder why he supports the ANC with so much conviction?

Is it just out of spite?

I have this paranoid fear that the only reason some people vote ANC is to spite “the white man”. If so, then I pity them. I was born and raised post-apartheid. I certainly understand this horrible history, but in my own lifetime, I haven’t done anything to deserve such spite. Not to mention that voting ANC hurts the average black person a lot more than it hurts me.

I sincerely hope that my paranoid fear of “spite” is just that, and that there is a more noble motivation for voting ANC?

If you are an ANC supporter, would you like to comment, and explain to me why you would vote for Zuma and the ANC today? ...I would really like to discuss this and see if we could understand each other.
