So why does our most recent discoveries (psychology, physiology, astronomy, atomic physics,..) contradict the existence of a almighty creator? Many posts on this site suggest that we have gained so much new information about our world, the universe, our bodies, our mind, etc. that this now makes belief in an Almighty creator superfluous. This does not have to be.
To the contrary, one would think that these discoveries are triggering more questions about how this can be. Religion as we know it today has as little to do with an Almighty creator as the atheists do. They have hijacked an idea/thought/belief and organised it to serve (?). They been both the religious and the atheists (Richard Dawkins is the new prophet). Don't confuse those who speak, act or wage war in God's name with God..... Forget about God for a moment and consider the following; the recent discovery of the ‘God’ particle, the intricacy of the human anatomy (sight, circulation, nerve system, sperm/egg transformation into a being,…), the perfect balance of the universe, biological/plant diversity, possible life in other planets,…..Could all of this exist through sheer chance?
To all the nay sayers, we are only starting to learn about how things work; our knowledge is not even that of a needle in a haystack. The eternal debate on the existence of a creator will mean that no matter how much we know or don’t know, we will still have this debate.
To those that believe, remember that your relationship with our creator is determined largely by what you do rather than what you say. Make a difference by acting out the role of an ideal citizen. Then maybe people will follow you or your belief system……
If I remember correctly, some texts say that ‘there is no compulsion in belief’. So why do we battle? Either you believe or you don’t…..its a personal choice, not a communal one.
We don’t have to get ugly about this debate. The world is a big place for all of us. Right now our country is crying for healing; the hatred that divides the races, the loss of privileges from the past, the inability to obtain meaningful employment in the new South Africa, the inability of our government to foster a realizable vision for our country, the vast and ever-growing wealth gap are all demanding our engagement at various levels to make sure we steer this country in the right direction. Let’s make a real difference!!!!
