It’s sad really, so many South Africans still enjoy nothing more than belittling each other, not to say I don’t know the anger out there, from both sides – I try to avoid reading political debates at times, it cleanses the soul, besides, there’s too much repetition of the exact same arguments by the exact same people, daily! what I read 4 years ago is still repeated today, the debate doesn’t seem to have improved one bit, there’s nothing new or fresh in our political discourse. Perhaps we just have too many drama queens who are always up for a fight, if you can’t beat them…..
In a nutshell there are still many racists who yearn for the past minority rule, the DA gives them that hope, so they follow it through hell or high water, there are also racist PoC (People of Colour), some who even refer to South Africa as ‘Azania” and believe South Africa is (or should be) a home for Africans Only, that life in SA would be a most happy and prosperous one without Whites, Coloureds and Indians.
Add to this the vast inequalities and you’d be forgiven for being gloomy, the question is, what has the ANC been doing to narrow the divide and speed up land and economic reform? Not to repeat what I wrote in http://www.news24.com/MyNews24/We-know-the-problems-but-do-we-know-what-needs-to-be-done-20130319 but by all accounts, they’ve lost the plot.
And now my bond repayment is almost equal to my Water & Light bill but The Minister of Transport still has the cheek to say that I must keep well away from some of our public roads (which they’re taking for themselves via E-toll) if I cannot afford to pay Them for the pleasure and convenience of driving on them – so our roads become roads for the wealthy Only under this ANC and worse, the DA wants to use this sorry state of affairs to try and win a few votes! We cannot even deal with crime in a united way because the DA always hijacks our initiatives, These politicians really make me sick!
The Durban to Joburg toll-roads has been raking in millions for years, where is that money going? Without even counting all the billions that government is often unable to account for, they won’t smell a cent from me, they might as well remove their hand buried deep in my back pocket scratching around for any coin it can find.
In America, 800 000 Government workers were put on unpaid leave because the USA government cannot afford to pay them, Republicans refused to raise the debt ceiling – life went on as normal, in fact, many are convinced that life is much better now without any government at all, pity we’re not able to make any real progress, South Africa and the world are doing that one step forward, two steps back dance.
