I hate to seem like a moaner, but this is something that really is bothering me.
Saturdays game against AUS was brilliant to watch, and for me it was really a special occasion. This was my first test match that I got to watch live at the stadium. And what an experience it was!
But to the point... Flip deserved his yellow, no point in denying it, it was blatantly obvious. But what really gets to me is that Hooper lifted Ysterbeth over his shoulder and flung him. Yes I said flung him. If you look at the replays available you can see that he lifted his hands, where Etzebeth' feet were. Surely that is cause for a concern?Yes he did get a yellow for the tackle but should the extra lift of the hands to try and flip him even further not be examined to see if the tackle was worthy of more than just a yellow?
I can bet that had it been Bissie of the current team, or Botha from his haydays, that had made that tackle there would have been either a red or a yellow and then they would be cited.
I haven't seen anywhere if Hooper has been cited for the tackle, but I wouldn't be surprised if he hasn't. Same story with No Arms Nonu, that tackle deserved red, yet only yellow and no citing.
Why does it feel that refs are out to protect some teams, while others get the short end of the stick constantly?
Well that's my rant over. Congratulations to the Springboks for a well deserved win. Now on to the All Blacks, to score 4 tries and stop them from getting any Championship points.
