I know today's main theme for user posts will be the e-toll system.
There are just a couple of things that maybe someone can help me understand?
1. City of Johannesburg municipality is the most expensive municipality in the country. It's been listed as the worst run municipality too. What are we paying such high rates for then? (Apart from COJ granting staff loans to the tune of R212m which they have no shame in announcing, is unrecoverable).
2. How is it in anyway fair that Gauteng residents are paying a fuel levy and now have to pay these e-tolls. The rest of the country doesn't have this problem... YET! Surely, all things being fair, if the government managed to build the tolls in all the other provinces, a national date should have been set to go live.
3. Why is it that government run money collection departments (SARS, traffic department, municipalities, TV licenses etc) are run so efficiently, yet the service delivery for all things taxed or billed on, is in such a shambles?!?!
4. Finally, if SA is indeed a democracy, then why has the opinion of the majority (across ALL racial divides), been completely ignored?!
To the residents of all other provinces, I'm glad you have not been hit with the same e-toll scam as yet. My best advise, snuff it out at the mention of it taking place in your province!
