E-Tag lies eyes wide open

05 December 2013, 10:18

One thing that life taught me from an early age is if you lie, you get caught out. Sort of the way life works. Liars for me are very close to the lowest elements in the gene pool, so I have a personal issue with dishonesty, hence my essay.

The idea of leasing out our highways to a foreign entity so that they can profiteer out of us is morally wrong no matter how you paint it. Devising a concept that is economically damaging to an entire country, directly causing an inevitable increase in transport costs of commodities into the City is to me tantamount to economic treason.  Closing off the transport routes into a city like a Gill net is immoral; unjust and economical suicide.

Amid the propaganda, threats and the fascist bulling from government and their henchmen, I have noted way too much misinformation coming out of the channels of so called authority.  The moral issues, being a big one but now the ethical issues come in to play. The lies.

Nazi Alli has gone to pains to tell us how little it will cost us, but these numbers do not make sense. If 85% only pay R100/month, how on earth will SANRAL ever pay back a R30 Billion loan in seven years? Vusi Mona claimed on Radio 702 in an interview with John Robbie that there will be an annual increase equal to the CPI. That’s your basic inflation rate, usually around 5-8% per year.

Well they aren’t all stupid at SANRAL, there are some very smart folks working or contracted to them, and they know that without at least a 29% increase they cannot pay off their debt in the allocated time.  Also that is if they have a 90% compliance rate. They will be very short of reaching their due payment in 2020, seven years from now without that price hike.

So to those of you that have capitulated, with or against your better judgement, and for want of a better way to say this, you have been duped.

You will have an increase in March, this one may not be that 29%er but it will cumulate to a point when they feel they have forced enough people to comply, and then the big increase will come. The Dollar exchange rate will be blamed or some other lame excuse much like the arms deal’s to cover for the increase. No heads will roll, no one will be made accountable. It will be the same whitewashed story all over again just like the Arms deal; it will be all too late. The deed done, the debt made, and we will be left stranded naked holding the baby. To add salt into the wounds you will have bought into a corrupt inefficient and fascist system having played your part in bringing E-Tolls to our shores, all with your eyes wide open.

Save yourselves and De Register your tags, use the F(r)eeway; overload SANRAL with admin and stand up like a man and be counted.
