It takes a certain level of political greed to stoop to the level that EFF did with the family of the murdered children in Diepsloot. It is a classic case of a bull in a china shop – it is so desperate to fight for "freedom" that it will destroy everything in its path to achieve it.
Case in point: EFF members invade the family shack and the main “spokesman”, Patrick Sindane, claims that there are “mickey mouse organisations” who “know nothing about what is happening in diepsloot” hanging around the family. He was trying to show EFF as the true party of the people, who know about poverty and should be the real representatives of the people in this case. This was said while being surrounded by scowling, red t-shirt and beret wearing minions.
Under any other circumstances, his utterances would have been relegated to another political statement from an unknown political wannabe who craved for the limelight that politics might grant him. In this case however, they royally screwed themselves.
Let’s exam the evidence:
1. They arrive as a hoard, dressed in their EFF uniform and started trying to intimidate everyone. They were so determined that Malema should come see the family that they totally disregarded any wishes by the family to be left alone.
2. The ignorant buffoon that was the big guy they brought along not only tried to block reporters from talking to the family, he didn’t even know who the mother one of the girls was – instead, he tried to stop her from talking to the press because he thought she was an Agang member.
3. They turned a situation where a family was mourning into a mini political debate about political parties, service delivery and votes, barely hiding their lack of compassion or empathy for the family.
It takes a certain level of stupidity for someone to make themselves the main character in a story that has nothing to do with them. At least with the Agang, their presence there is justifiable in that one of them is a neighbour of the family and has been there even before the girls were discovered. And they worked silently alongside the family, without claiming any glory or attacking any other persons – they came to help and that all they did.
This was a clear indication that those who are part of EFF don’t care much for what is truly happening in the lives our people – they care only for the political points they can score. Who cares that the family is going through a tragedy and that two little girls were murdered? EFF only cares to be seen, trying to quench their thirst for power, ignorant of what is happening amongst communities in our country and trying to keep Malema relevant.
What does it matter that a family is grieving?
It’s all about being the main peacock, showing off their colours in all their glory.
EFF has shown that it cares nothing for people’s pain – they only want to exploit and make themselves the saviour of the story.
They can go EFF off.
