Since we have known Julius, he has always been described as a senseless, blubbering, immoral individual with no sense of understanding. If you listened to many of his speeches, you couldn’t argue a bit about that. Could he be really not understanding or are we not understanding him? He has spoken highly of himself as the fighter for the poor, with the nationalization of mines and the MARIKANA hero saga. He has put himself in the shoes of the poor a lot lately, but if you wanted votes wouldn’t you?
If you are black and poor you will definitely resonate with Julius in so many ways. If you middle class black you would still resonate with him. One could argue that he is fighting for the right course. My fear is that he is fighting for it in the wrong way. In the ears of the poor and the hungry individuals words like ‘“If you share with the poor there will be no need to build high walls at your home.” To me that just calls for more violence, genocides, racism, unnecessary division between the rich and the poor. The line for me is open to various negative interpretations.
He was popular in the ANC for not knowing how to adress real issues without turning them into a commotion. The same mentality made him lose touch with the media and the middle class, which can reason. Not that people did not agree with him, they just didn’t agree with how he’s handling it. He is obviously still the same person who has not changed his ways. He has not learnt the power of peace, unity and the spirit of UBUNTU nor has he have people around him guiding him to the right direction. Imagine him in the UN meeting, speaking the way he does, calling people of high statue names. Threatening the US for invading this or that country? Not a president I need thanks. I am planning to move forward here, not creating enemies around the world.
There is a space for EFF and they couldn’t have come at the right time where ANC was getting so comfortable with being in power. They have forgotten what people were, never mind what delivery is. I wish EFF all the best and I hope COPE, DA and AGANG play their part and shake ANC, We are tired of the monopolistic ruling. These parties need to compete against each other to avoid comfort-ability & incompetence.
