Dear Mr Zuma,I am sure you applied your mind when choosing the date for the next elections. For your information, please make a mental note (you can make written notes if you need to) of the following upcoming paid public holidays:Friday 21st March. Human Rights day.Friday 18th April. Good Friday.Monday 21st April. Family day.Monday 28th April. Public holiday because Freedom day happens to fall on a Sunday.Thursday 1st May. Workers day.Wednesday 7th May. Election day. That's 6 paid public holidays in the space of 8 weeks! Let me put that in perspective for you.Friday 21st March will make a long weekend and some workers will take the following Monday off as well, so Industry looses 2 days.Easter Weekend costs Industry at least another 2 days.In fact Industry might as well close down on Thursday before the Easter weekend and try again from the 12th May!The week of the 14th April there are 4 working days before Easter. The week of the 21st April there are 4 working days after Easter. The week of the 28th April there are 3 working days, 2 before workers day and one after. The week of the 5th May there are 2 days before and 2 days after elections when a lot of migrant workers will want to be at home to vote.
Mr Zuma, do you get my drift? So many public holidays in such a short space of time is very disruptive to industry. It is very obvious who's side you're on yet you need industry's tax money.
With all due respect Mr Zuma, I strongly suggest that the next time you get the desire to apply your mind, please get help.
