England - The RWC 2015 Champions in waiting?

19 March 2013, 16:14
So judging by the Twitter, Facebook and news sites commentary sections, the majority of people out there are under the impression that Steve Walsh lost England the game against Wales earlier today.

The man has a checkered past don't get me wrong but he came back from a lot of crappy issues back in the early 00's to be one of the top referee's around at the moment. We can all agree that he is a bit of a preening peacock on the field but one thing he does not do is take kak. Blunt as a spoon he tells players where to get off the high horse.

If you followed the scrums today, you could see that England were getting hammered in the PK and FK count. Why then were the Youngs brothers continually infringing? Example being: 1st scrum took 3 resets with the third being blown for not feeding quick enough. Nothing wrong there. I agree that he could have been more vocal as to why he was penalising scrum indiscretions, but let's not forget, these are professional rugby players we are dealing with here. If you don't know the Laws, then what the hell are you doing at that level.

Take the scrums away and Walsh had one of the best games he has ever reffed. England did themselves no favours at ruck time. I was starting to think Dan Cole had epilepsy, as he continually fell or collapsed under, into and over rucks from all matter of angles. Any referee would have blown this and some would have even gone into their pockets for the sunshine card.

By the by, Wales were hungrier, more aggressive, more in your face and the England prima donna's couldn't handle that. Even the token Saffa, Brad Barritt got outstripped for pace by Man of the Match No. 7 Justin Tipuric on his way to setting up Alex Cuthbert for his second try.

Mike Brown to 15. Ashton needs to go. Warburton has staked his claim as British Lions Captain. Marler and Cole never raised their hands. Halfpenny and North have raised their game. Robshaw the only light in the England pack.

Hit of the game, Mike Phillips on Geoff Parling... Bloody brilliant.
