In most of the belief systems the most basic questions are where we as humans came from? Scientifically where did life came from? Now it is very interesting to see the reactions if one question some basic beliefs in such a belief system. See all the reactions on the previous article on the earth warming belief and the Inquisition starts all over again- the author is a total idiot, a theologian, verkrampte, etc., etc. How can you say something that may imply a re-think of such a belief it is sacred and the sums ( dolossses) confirms it although very few can do the sums.
The theory of evolution is quite interesting and has in fact developed into a belief. It has also become one of the most ardent anti-religion movements in my experience. The tendency in this belief (system) is most probably because of a number of best selling books published in the past number of years on this topic.
There are a number of aspects of evolution that can be accepted and to a large extent can be seen in everyday life, for example the breeding of certain sub species – new sub species of cattle, dogs, plants, viruses, etc. Please note this evolution is without extrapolation of trends and is based on (internal) selection within a species.
Presently there are no archaeological samples of transmutation i.e. a hippopotamus transforming into a whale.
The aspect of evolution that I find unacceptable is the belief that all living things originated from a single cell and over a long period transformed itself into the different species with all the associated theories of survival of the fittest and cost effectiveness of changes etc., etc.
This belief is a total mix up of facts and theory (extra- and interpolation of anatomical, archaeological and modern day trends) and in the end have to be evaluated in terms of probability.
Let us look at a few basic points to consider by means of example (not necessarily in the highly theorized sequence):
1. We all know that the building blocks of certain proteins can be manufactured in modern laboratories or even under special conditions in nature but we’ve not seen how these proteins can also be encapsulated within a membrane that will only allow certain “food” to enter (to feed) and the waste to exit this soup (i.e. to form a cell). The chances for this to happen is basically nil -even in the best laboratories this event could never be duplicated. In my estimation this event has a probability of nearly zero.
2. To put life into this encapsulated soup and to program it to multiply is purely theory (creation of chromosomes, mitosis, meiosis, DNA, etc.). In my estimation this event has a probability of nearly zero.
3. For these single cells to then combine and become dependent on each other or another set of cells to form an organism consisting of millions of cells seems quite impossible. Even the experiments presently in the thousands of generations of bacteria it still remains the same bacteria only with changes to accommodate environmental and cyclical changes but absolutely no inkling of dependency on each other. In my estimation this event has a probability of nearly zero.
4. We can carry on in this way for each of the so called milestones in the evolutionary development of all living beings. Most of the probabilities are nearly zero. Very few DNA changes and the effects of radiation on any living entity resulted in the enhancement of the organism in terms of survival but have rather a degradation effect
One of the basic principles of probability theorems is that the probability of a chain of events is the multiplication of the probabilities of each of the so-called milestones usually denoted by AND. Thus for items 1 AND 2 AND 3 (above) to happen these probabilities must be multiplied as an example. If we thus give each of these items a 1 in a million chance to happen (remember these items could not be done in a laboratory) it implies that the probability to get to the next milestone (item 4) is 1 in 1000000000000000000 or 1/1018 or 10 -18. This is of course acceptable to the evolutionists but in my understanding it is basically impossible.
If we can accept that there are 100 milestones in the development of the human from a single cell and we now are much kinder to the evolutionists and make the probability of each milestone one in a thousand (1/103) then the probability of a human descended from that cell is
1/10300 . This is as near as zero as you can get (in my reckoning).
We all know there are many other claims by the evolutionists especially on the DNA levels but really with these kinds of probabilities and especially on the origins of life it cannot be anything but a theory.
Oh I forgot may be the earth was visited by aliens and they have created life on earth or may be life came from asteroids/comets/? I will address this in a next article.
