Exit Reason- Enter Jacob Zuma

30 August 2013, 12:48

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, ,[Charles Dickens ,Tales of two cities ]

"'It was the best of times " Jacob Zuma won most of his battles from ousting Mbeki to the rape trial ,the cherry on top was when his 700 plus corruption was struck off the roll after claims by the NPA that the case against him was political motivated ,this pathed his way into presidency

"It was the age of wisdom'"

Soon after becoming president Jacob Zuma appoints a very different ministerial team that has a well detailed mandate for example the national planning commision and the evaluating and monitoring portfolio which falls under the presidency , ministeries like the youth and women ministries, the economic development ministries etc, for the first in South Africa the cabinet looked like it had all the checks and balances to work as an effective tool in improving the lives of South Africans 'it was the age of wisdom "

'It was the epoch of belief '

To his credit Jacob Zuma came in as president in the middle of a global recession he stirred the ship during this tough times to almost coast as he had to find stragetic countries for new trade and new economic opportunities hence the BRICS partnership and to also boast investor confidence 'it was the epoch of belief'

'It was the season of light "

Under Jacob Zuma South Africa hosted the most successful FIFA world cup in the 100 years history of the organisation

'It was the spring of hope '

The particular turnaround strategy against HIV/AIDS during Jacob Zuma presidency is indeed a' the spring of hope' after Thabo Mbeki's policy on HIV with only 9 healthcare centres giving ARVs the Mbeki admistration was almost at the road of a genocide

'we had everything before us '

When Jacob Zuma started his life as president of South Africa it seemed that he was a champion of the poor ,a hands on president ,an open minded person who believed in solution rather than analysing the problem ,he was praised inside the ANC as someone who understood the challenges facing South Africa and will work hard to solve them it looked like South Africa 'had everything before us '

'It was the worst of time '

when 44 people were killed in what is now called the Marikana massacre ,it was at the absence of leadership that the situation got out of control ,Zuma administraton will forever have the tittle of 'the goverment that killed people in Marikana '

'It was the age of foolishnes'

"It has put a lot of pressure on my family and my organisation, the African National Congress. I deeply regret the pain that I have caused to my family, the ANC, the Alliance and South Africans in general." Jacob Zuma after having an affair with his frriends daughter

"it was the epoch of incredulity"

Jacob Zuma's financial adviser who was found guilty of corruption after the judge in the case said '"A generally corrupt relationship" (existed between Zuma and Shaik), was given medical parole just two months before Jacob Zuma was to be sworn in as president the parole this raised suspicion and incredulity as this signalled the last preparation for his time a president and to tie loose knots

'It was the season of darkness"

"we don’t want to review the Constitutional Court, we want to review its powers". Jacob Zuma ,with proposed laws like the info protection bill the appointment of the NPA head ,the appointment of the contitutional court head ,South Africa is walking through a period of darkness as this can be a threat to our democracy a potential moment to brew a dictator and potential banana republic

'it was a winter of despair'

The upgrading of the Inkandla compound with 200 miilion of tax money ,the landing of the Gupta family jet at the nations military airbase ,the rising culture of corruption ,the secret ministerial handbook, textbook saga in Limpopo,13 soldiers killed in CAR ,the exclusive economy which is dettached from ordinary South Africans, the mining strikes ,is indeed 'a winter of despair '

"we had everything before us, we had nothing before us"

The Zuma administration lacks a clear economic policies jumping from different economic policies from New growth plan to the national developmental plan what is most dissapointing is the lack of dedication to education with students still attending class in mud schools and textbooks not delivered at all and the lack of substance in our educational curriculum we are bound for failure as Sun Tzu in, The Art of War wrote "Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory. Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat."
