Farm Murders? What are we going to do about the farm murders?!

More often than not in the comments section of News24, moreover in the public commentary of this country we confront discouraging remarks, be them on class, politics, race or current issues; but during this time very few are building ones, inspiring progress in all who come across it and inciting positive activism necessary for our growth as South Africans.

As the comments section are a news feed of their own one can grow numb to the actual articles.

Crime has been more prevalent in this country certainly for as long as I have been around. And one of the most disturbing ones to read amongst rape, homicide in townships are the farm killings.

The few stories that we have read show as much brutality as it does little remorse on the victims. However this article is not tell you what you already know and are shook by, it is to ask for solutions.

I am not saying this needs to be treated with any more urgency than the scarring crime happening at a much higher rate to the rest of the South Africans however I do feel it should also be on the first row of the queue.

We have read about elders and children alike being shot in the head, drowned, cooked, raped and other things we would not wish on our worst enemies. I care not if you are a farmer, hate farmers, think them thieves or hard workers; the truth is murder on all fronts and people is wrong.

The side note I would like to add though is to the Red October people, as a black South African I was completely outraged at the accusation of murdering whites. Crime is not on race but class. Had most black people been living in surbubs and most white people living in townships and informal settlements would it still be the same?

You are shameful for reducing a real issue of your loved ones and friends murdered in farms to your stupid insecurities about the black man.

Instead of injecting a sense of urgency in the government to act on this serious atrocity you only received rejection and ridicule which you most deserved, if not worse.

If we may, may we engage in useful dialogue in the comments section for what can and should be done to stop the slaying of farmers in this country.
