Friend, how would your faith stand up to Gods plumb line?

01 April 2014, 08:48

The wall which God was standing on was a wall He had built using a heavenly and true plumb line. A plumb line is still used today in the building trade for measuring something which must stand truly vertical. Only from true vertical can a deviation be properly measured.

With Gods plumb line He is able to measure exactly how far someone has deviated from His recorded Word. Just like this, God is able to measure our faith and to see if it’s true.

We read in Amos 7:7-10.   Thus He showed me: “Behold, the Lord stood on a wall made with a plumb line in His hand

And the Lord said to me, Amos, what do you see? And I said, “A plumb line. ”  Then the Lord Said: ‘Behold, I am setting a plumb line in the midst of MY people Israel; I will not pass by them anymore.

The high places of Isaac shall be desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste. I will rise with the sword against the house of Jeroboam.

Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam the king of Israel, saying, Amos has conspired against you in the midst of the house of Israel. The land is not able to bear all His words.”

In these verses of Scripture we can see God is telling His chosen Prophet Amos, that He is about to use His plumb line on His people. God was about to do this because He could no longer accept the sins and debauchery they were committing against Him any longer.

What is built by using Gods plumb line will stand the test of time, but that which is built by man’s thoughts and plans with even the slightest deviation will eventually collapse in ruins. God is telling us here that He earnestly desires His people to be straight with Him.

This wall which God built with His plumb line is true, there are no flaws, cracks or blemishes to be found in it. And this wall today represents the only true faith which God has set out for man to follow, the only way to receive forgiveness for their sins.

If many believers were to use Gods plumb line to measure their faith right now their faith would indeed fail this test. God is telling us here in these few verses that even His chosen prophets have often been seen as nothing more than traitors and conspirators because the message from God which Amos was bringing to the people was speaking out against the King, and the kings advisors, questioning their authority and exposing their lies and sins. This is the reason why the Kings saw these God appointed prophets as enemies rather than a spokesman who were only sent to help them and the nation.

But here we see Amaziah, the chief priest in Bethel, the representative of Israel’s official religion, being totally uninterested or concerned with Gods message, fobbing it off. The only thing Amaziah was interested in was his own position. For Amaziah and many others like him, maintaining their positions in the world was more important that listening, obeying, and accepting the truth from Gods word. These false priests were only concerned in keeping hold of and maintaining their positions of authority and keeping their bank balance and bellies full.

Did you know that Gods plumb line is once again in use, and it is measuring the faith of His people against the only true wall which He built for leading His people back to Him? God’s wall today is the gospel of the water and the Spirit.  This is what God is using to measure the faith of His people today. This wall is perfection in every way and detail, from the depth of its foundations, to it’s highest point of salvation. In Gods wall you will find no deviations, flaws or blemishes. It still shines brightly.

And today, God is again sending out His born again saints, those without sin in their hearts, and has entrusted them to use His plumb line to check the faith of everyone who maintains of being a born again Christian...testing their faith.

The building materials which God has used to build this wall is the gospel of the water and the Spirit or His Righteousness. There is no other gospel. If you have another gospel besides this gospel then you are in real big trouble.

Jesus says in John 3:5.   “Most assuredly, I say to you. Unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.”

Anyone, whose faith deviates from Gods line of measurement, ever so little, will crumble and fall down. Those who add, twist, distort or remove a single word or piece of this building material will surely be cursed and destroyed. Today the saints of the New Life Mission are carrying out the same orders which God gave to Amos, and just as it was then, the people with the hearts of Amaziah, are the ones who are deviating from the plumb line by distorting the only gospel truth which is able to save Gods people perfectly from sin.

Sadly, many priests, pastors and whoever preaches behind a pulpit or microphone today are the false prophets God warned us about, for they are unable to stand up to Gods plumb line. Why do I say this? It’s because they are unable to obey what God requires to be straight and true with a proper foundation. They are only capable of deviating and building on shifting sand, unable to lead anyone to the Kingdom of Heaven.

In Mark 7:20-23 you can find the building blocks which are used by those who deviate from Gods plumb line. And it’s with these blocks they expect to be able to enter Gods kingdom.

May I ask you a question, who issued you your Building Compliance Certificate; was it God or your pastor or church?

This message was written to make people start thinking seriously about their faith and where they stand before God, for when time is up, then no more talking. Only the Judgment awaits. For as sure and the sun rises everyday, so sure is the final Judgment.

Please make use of our Free Christian Books, also in Afrikaans. Here you will learn how to build your house of faith true and secure.

I will not be entertaining remarks from mockers and those who have never been born again yet.
