From a South African

29 November 2012, 13:41

Unemployment, poverty and apathy seems to be the reality of many South Africans in 2012. Yet one can look at the positive end of this dire situation. We are learning as a country, as a nation and as a society. we can only grow from this.

The many depressing government dealings that are doing the rounds in the south african media about south africa are revolting to say the least. i am filled with anger. our leaders have failed to be the role models for the young generation. our leaders (not all of them) are unethical, stupid and liars. our leaders have created the tax collection of this country their cash-cow. they have made various structures even department wings to feed into their pathetic lavish life and to deepen their pockets.

Your lavish lifestyles are shackling the people you fought to free, or did you? Maybe you were fighting for your own self? We as the ‘thoughtless’ (according to you) south africans are being deprived of the many opportunities that you so promised us when we voted you into power. south africans, all races, are tired of these incompetent comrades heading offices just because they once held an ak47 and short at the apartheid police, or they are cousins of the person who "fought for freedom". Our leaders have no sense of direction. Our leaders in parliament and many high offices in the country have lost the love of their own people, or maybe they never had it. it has become so difficult to do good with the sophistication of corruption that grows each day.

I am embarrassed at times to be a South African because of the thoughtlessness, covetousness and crudeness of our parliamentarians and public office bearers. how can you fail us as your followers? how can you starve us as your patriots? how juvenile of you to be greedy? you are grown individuals (by age) who act like kinder-garden kids with your inflated egos. you are so quick to kill as well. kill those who make sense and are ethical in their dealings with their finance and governance.

Please stop. Please stop. Stop shackling the people who are trying to build this country. Even our president is ashamed of speaking in public about his shambles and the apparent kickbacks evident (through the eyes of the media) in his administration. The freedom of the press is being challenged. The police are used as pawns to support state corruption. Questions to the public offices are never answered with a straight answer. education is not a requirement for a good leader and a competent office bearer.

What is Kgalema Motlante going to do different to Jacob Zuma? What is Tokyo Sexwale going to do different to Sam Shilowa? How will Cyril Ramaphosa help with curbing money obsession and covetous nature of public office bearers? A new world order in the sense of fighting corruption (miniscule corrupt minds) and educating the younger generation is needed. knowledge of our academic, political, religious and economical environments is needed to better this nation.

Black consciousness is the foundation of good leaders, in my view. let's start debating this as a nation, a society and a country. let's start to measure the consequences of our actions today. the future is measured by our positive and negative actions we partake in today. they are the cause of joy, pain and success in the future.

Our future in South Africa is bleak. But I am optimistic, I love this country and everyone in it.
