There appears to be a misunderstanding amongst the science-only atheists regarding existence. Have the high priests of atheism had their wicked way with them in the confessional? Perhaps they are exchanging one religion for another?
Atheists on these forums often ask for “proof” of Gods’ existence. They are usually answered by theists asking for proof that God does not exist, which of course leads to the burden of proof debate.
Science uses the scientific method, (Hypothesis + theory). God is hypothesized as an entity/object that created all space and matter. We NEVER prove existence, we assume it. EG: Are all missing socks missing because they were eaten by gremlins = the sock eating gremlin hypothesis.
The science of existence is physics. It is physics that studies objects. Objects all have the intrinsic quality of shape or form and a location. Concepts do not. What is a concept? Well it is everything that is not an object. Concepts are relational. The dictionary tells me a concept is “An idea or mental image which corresponds to some distinct entity or class of entities.” Perhaps the best definition of a concept is: A relation between two or more objects. (Synonym: idea, thought, notion, cogitation, conception)
Objects are observer independent, they are there whether a being is there to observe them or not. So any “proof” for existence must be observer independent. That is why science does not seek to “prove” existence and only ever seeks to give rational non contradictory EXPLANATIONS.
If theists claim that God is not a thing, He is a no-thing. Whether God is a spirit, seen or unseen, hidden, undetectable by science or ethereal matters not. If God has no shape/form that would make God a no-thing and therefor non-existent. Only that with shape/form and a location = an object can be said to exist.
For the BELIEVERS that God does exist, please do not tell us that God is love, alpha and omega, the one and only, almighty, these are attributes which do not exist, these are concepts that are relational, (between you and God). By describing God with flowery spoken concepts, you are summarily excluding God from existence. Remember, we define concepts and point to and name objects, we may also attempt to describe objects.
Think on this carefully. Am I wrong? Can you prove existence? Can you prove that you exist?
