Good Morning Mzansi

13 November 2012, 07:33

Last night I had a dream South Africa was the coolest spot in the Universe, well, maybe it is. I mean, NO or Less Natural disasters, Crime here and there but overall I believe 'My Homies don't steal', wayne. These crime stats are unreliable, dudes spread rumours like they work for reliable.

Anyway, enough of that. I have recently uploaded my Online EP, titled 2OutOf5. The first and obvious meaning of this, is that of course just like someone like you, I have named my Musical Project after my age. YES ladies and Gentlemen, I am 25 Years of age.

The second reason is, I completed my matric in 2005 and pretty much more action packed than the prophetic 2012. I could say 2005 is to me, what the 20s were to Paris or the 60s were to hippies.

I am embarking! on a mission to release 7 track EPs every week, till whenever. The first track is called, 'Letlhabile', which means you'll be stabbed and poured with honey in the mountains while I sit on a rock and wait for the wolves to come and have a nice dinner (I'm like a waiter).

JK, LOL... of course it means 'the sun has risen' and it kind of speaks of how brutally honest my Art is. The second track is 'Joburg Girl', which for all intensive purposes speaks about my female snyman (Ghetto word for = 'Weed Pharmacist'), I have Glaucoma`, and at the same time alluding to an intelligent business woman living in Sandton.

The third track is called 'U CAN'. I had initially made the track for the Can Do Competition on youtube but they're not big on words, it's more of a moving picture kind of competition (TALK ABOUT THE RIGHT SONG, FOR THE WRONG COMPETITION). So if the song sounds like I'm in a Can, it's supposed to, for obvious reasons.

Track number 4 is 'Botlhoko' which means pain, and pretty much speaks about 'Growing Pains' and Escapism. While number 5 is called Black Man's Dream and pretty much is my Vocal track and speaks of how I'm just a simple man in a complex system.

The sixth track is 'Dithunya' which means 'Guns'. This track is all about my Identity and trying to find myself within the scope of music and my surroundings. This is by far my favourite track ever made by myself and quiet deep (ask me how in the comments).

Track Seven is Robotong. That pretty much is slang for 'at the robots'. It's also one of my favourites and was inspired by the guys that wipe cars at the robot, and their spirit of perseverance, NO matter what. The second part of the chorus translates, 'we force our way in, like we wipe at the robots'. This metaphor kind of symbolises our struggle as independent musicians and how we get out into the world by all means necessary.

Well I hope you had FUN reading this article as much, if not more fun than I had writing it.

By the way my name is NEMI.
