GOOD AND EVIL
I remember the days way back in the mid eighties when Santana hit the highest accolades for their music. Very many were just not out to praise this bunch of satanic thugs. The pious and less pious developed the art to read the calling of Satan in the music and compared it with Goodie-two-shoes Cliff Richard and ilk. Some developed the ability to listen to Santana when the words and music was played backwards and the ghastly world and words of Old Nick found its way out of the blaring speakers.
On Sundays the pastor was approached for advice to vanquish this Satanic monster that hit our CD’s and tapes and the words of those that will rot forever in the hottest of hells. Sadly the vengeance from above only seemed to excite the players of Satan to do even better.
The doings and undoing’s of the Santana band went on to reap even more accolades from the music world and those in the know. What we are interested in here is the definition of Good and Evil.
Can good reside in a band, song or CD and can evil also reside in the voice of a singer. A long time ago Elvis Presley was branded as something evil due to his pelvic gyrations and an evil sexuality bound to those physical actions. My parents described Elvis Presley as something dragged in by the Devil.Iif something is good then it cannot be evil but surely there must be some form of sliding scale to compare the two and then decide the values to be meted out.
Sometime around 1540 this guy called Faust decides to go all the way and sell his soul to Satan and apparently Old Nick did not quite like the attitude Faust displayed: so arrogantly and self-centred. Faust was found the following morning ripped to shreds( and not due to a PIT Bull either) this little riddle has not been exposed and clarified because Satan may take umbrage.; Further, it may be interesting to note that studies (ghastly occupations) have indicated that most tribes of mankind shows that a basic code of conduct is maintained and this code is amazingly similar throughout the entire world.
Rape is a no-no by all as is adultery, theft and ogling the neighbours wife and yes, the rest of the 10 commandments. It must be remembered that these tribes from the South Sea Islands were totally isolated from the rest of the civilised world and so too the inhabitants of Easter island. They however, are faced with sharply diminishing population.
When we come to a concept of a sliding scale then that scale is mankind.
