The ANC 53rd national conference in Mangaung, Free State, has come and gone. None of the doom prophecies of blood on the conference came to pass. What instead happened, was more unity and cohesion during of the week-long festival of ideas.
The 53rd nationa conference was a resounding success, this notwithstanding all attempts by forces internal and external of the ANC to hijack the organisation and derail the national democratic revolution.
As things stand, the overwhelming majority of delegates to the conference defied the illogic of prophets of doom and gloom by returning Jacob Zuma as the President of the ANC. Sobriety also prevailed in the set of resolutions adopted by the conference.
Resolutions adopted by the conference have brought certainty and clarity on the policy positions of the democratic government. What now remains is to translate these policies and resolutions into concrete plans of action.
It is our duty as citizens to rally behind President Jacob Zuma and his leadership collective to ensure that we take this country to even greater heights. We owe this patriotic duty to ourselves and future generations.
Haak Vrystaat to President Jacob Zuma and the people of South Africa.
