After a long, difficult year your mom or dad treat you to some clothing shopping – alas! It’s at a store of their choosing and everything is horrible! - But you know it’s a rare treat being bestowed on you which comes only once every few years so now you must begin the unpleasant task of choosing the one outfit you dislike the least.
That is where we now find ourselves with the upcoming elections whereby before we were filled with hope and expectation the years have brought on the cold hard realities of politics, that is, those in Parliament sleep, party and do little or nothing until the next elections loom, then it’s all grins and big smiles and hugs all round and wall to wall reasons why we should forget the uselessness of the past few years, we must forget all the money and time our politicians wasted on utter rubbish and petty mudslinging, we are expected to renew our hopes once more, to rally the troops.
There is not enough time and space to mention all our politicians failings but we know the ANC’s all too well where all policies have been replaced with one of self-enrichment at all costs - but it is their sheer audacity and arrogance with the way they’re trying to foist E-tolls on us that lost me totally, it exposed their inability to add value to our beloved country, instead they erode value and ignore our fundamental expectations of shared land and wealth. The least said about those confused and directionless lot, the UDM/Cope/FF+ Coalition To Get a Few Seats In Parliament, the better, any thinking person will now know the risk of voting for Agang, Ramphele’s incompetence baffles me no end, how did she get away with it all along?
The DA is for those who long for National Party rule, it’s for those who are comfortable and happy with the current inequalities – as for those few people of colour who intend voting DA? I don’t know, perhaps the current situation suits them all too well, or perhaps they truly believe in White minority rule over the needs of the poor majority - Maybe they believe a Black government will lead us to total ruin, like I said, I don’t know, I just know that the DA and all its leaders and followers are totally against addressing the effects of the past, inequality – remember that people of colour were forbidden by law and by force from owning property, forbidden from competing with Whites in business and were not even permitted to study for certain careers, like cardiology – We cannot be dependent forever or we’re doomed.
Which brings me to the Commander in Chief, need I say his name? – this young man was undermined and made a joke of, but he learnt from his mistakes and rose like a Phoenix from the ashes,
Lol! You believe that? Neither do I, but I like how it sounds, we All need a hero to believe in, it’s human nature - – but True, Julius is the only one talking about the concerns of the poor, his much criticized call for nationalisation has been met with disgust by some, but those critics have failed to provide speedy solutions to our problems. Julius has also managed to make inroads into the White community with his reassurances that his is a battle for economic freedom for all, not an anti-White crusade - a fight for spreading the wealth in order for us to be equal and united.
Given the alternatives who knows, I’m very tempted……at least there’d never be another boring day in our lives.
