I would please welcome all comments on feedback regarding this piece and in view of my personal opinion...
So, my name is Quincy from big old Johannesburg. The reason why I decided to submit my story was based on the fact that after I logged into Facebook this morning, a friend had a status update that just didn't sit well with me and had the need to write a personal view point
To start off and explain in detail my reasoning, Homosexual rights are constantly an issue that’s a topic of discussion and under fire cause of fighting for same sex rights and being treated as equal, not be seen as an outcast in society and lastly to be accepted as “normal” in the population, but saying this, it has come to my attention that homosexuals are not even respectful to their own rights that they are fighting for and against metro sexual people, hence how I feel there is a massive lack of communication and misunderstanding in between homosexuals and what they are actually portraying to the world...
Again, this is my personal perception and not a public perception, so my research took me on the road of New business owners (gays predominantly) have decided the past few years that it is a great scheme to open and market gay business's e.g. (insurance for gays) and the latest edition to the corporate market (groupon for gays) to name a few. These business's market same sex acceptance to the point that the market focus for them is mainly gay clientele and gay people welcomed, almost saying “come here and support your type of community”.
So my concern being a very happy gay male myself is how come do gay people fight for same rights if they keep on breaking free and creating their own little exclusive empires and so on creating an intimidation factor for straight people that’s reflected in their business modules, because it carries a sexual preference clientele message, surely they can’t expect society to be accepting of such initiatives...
The constant fight for equal rights are just left behind cause where is equality in what they are currently doing, and does this really support the cause or is this just another method to MILK the gay population for their so called PINK money??
You may look at big corporate companies and the way they structure business, it’s a service offering, a solution that meets the need of the end user... Doesn’t matter age, race or gender... So it brings me to the point that IF this “so acclaimed new method of sexual preference based business’s marketing” is so effective, why have large corporate companies such as e.g. BMW selling the MINI COOPER (voted gayest car in the world) not taken the initiative of creating an ALL GAY marketing and advertising campaign for this brand since GAYS are their main clientele supporting the brand globally? Everything surely doesn’t have to be labelled and need that GAY stamp of approval??
Surely if e.g. one of the big insurance houses had to release a STRAIGHT LIFE INSURANCE POLICY they will guaranteed be taken to court... or e.g. BMW selling the all new masculine metro sexual X6, it would create a major uproar in society yet again, metro sexual society is not allowed to comment, “judge” or use the word ‘GAY” in any form as its seen as discrimination and looking down upon a preference, but if YOUR a heterosexual yourself, it’s almost as if you have personally received an ALL ACCESS PASS to do whatever you like, how you like and see fit, yet again, straight are not allowed to do the same... I could Gay Pride as a example.. Why the label again, I thought the objective is for all South African’s to become one, no judgement, hate or violence? Yet I have to be informed when is straight pride...?
So since the label is thrown around by gay people, why don’t these terms exist then e.g.
“I am gay parking my car”
“Sweetie, let’s go gay shopping on Sunday”
“I’m attending my first gay yoga class tonight”
“Sorry, how much is your gay male haircuts?”
“Girl! That was an awesome gay gym session!”
So this comes down to my question,
HOW CAN THE GAY POPULATION FIGHT FOR EQUAL RIGHTS AND ACCEPTANCE EVERYWHERE IF THEY KEEP ON HIGHLIGHTING THEMSELVES THE WAY THEY DO, IS THIS NOT SEEN AS COMPLETE CONTRADICTION TO WHAT THE ACTUAL MEANING OF EQUAL RIGHTS ARE INTENDED TO BE AND ONE FOR ALL?
Gay people should start forming part of society and become one and stop making themselves the odd one out with the insane initiatives to “MARKET” themselves, being gay is not a product or an election, it’s a personal and private preference and personally doesn't require a MARKETING CAMPAIGN...
But not everyone has enough of a cognitive process to figure this out until it becomes a major talking point! Is it safe to say that we can expect Gay Hospitals, Gay Malls, and Gay Dog Walking Parks in the very near future?
It is the behaviour as set out in this piece that forms a deeper rift between common everyday societies...
I have mentioned before, I am a gay male and can confidently say that I’m sure there are millions of metro sexual society whom would be more than happy to enjoy our lifestyle and us as individuals without intimidating factors being labelled just as they are we are enjoying their lifestyles without straight labels... So it all starts with us to make the change to become one...
Change your approach and the results will follow soon...
