Yes. I said religion.
Up until now, everyone who has read any of my religion based posts has been assuming that I am an atheist. Except that I am not.
I am a pagan. Wiccan to be more precise.
I even have the spell books, and an encyclopedia of witchcraft. (Which, interestingly enough, has a whole section on christianity. But that's beside the point.)
The thing is, I wasn't born a wiccan. My folks went to church, got confirmed, the whole nine. I even went to sunday school and SU camps as a kid.
But there have always been questions that christianity and organised religion just didn't answer for me.
So I decided to find a religion that made sense, and that I could marry with my belief that science is the only true method of explaining the universe.
Pagan religions fit the bill nicely.
There's no threat of hell if you do something bad. Course, there's the little matter that what you do comes back to you, but I can live with that. Course, there's no convenient praying or tithing to wash my sins clean, so I have to be a little more careful than the average religidrone.
Then there's the fact that paganism is a nature based religion. It's a lot easier to believe in, say, mother earth, which I can see, touch and smell than it is to believe in the all powerful cloud sitting smiter in the sky.
Then there's the fact that I AM one of those people who marries religion and science. In my version of events, the supreme being / universe / goddess was simply the catalyst who started the whole thing going. No conflict of interest there.
So, religidrones, before you assume that everyone who doesn't believe the same plagiarised piffle that you do is an atheist, perhaps you should ask the question?
Writing us all off as atheists is typically stereotypical, and simply proves that you have a narrow, boring, blinkered world view.
Oh, and please - don't burn me at the stake? We've had about enough of that from you lot.
