How awesome is heaven really

11 July 2014, 08:58
So this morning I was sitting here thinking about a subject and looked into Mordecai, Ester and Xerxes. Xerxes actually existed and was the King of Persia, The attempted genocide of the Jews is not mentioned anywhere other than the Bible, The tale has some authenticity so may just be historically correct. The Jewish people still celebrate Purim due to this incident.
Anyway I got bored with Xerxes and decided I would look into Revelations. Revelations 1- 3 are fairly mundane stuff, Lamps and noted to the 7 churches telling them why they are good and why they suck. Philadelphia gets short shrift as the synagogue of Satan, but it really gets interesting in Revelations 4. Here we get an inside view of heaven.
I give you Revelations 4.
4:1 After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.” 2 At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it. 3 And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and ruby. A rainbow that shone like an emerald encircled the throne. 4 Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and seated on them were twenty-four elders. They were dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads. 5 From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. In front of the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits[a] of God. 6 Also in front of the throne there was what looked like a sea of glass, clear as crystal. In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures, and they were covered with eyes, in front and in back. 7 The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle. 8 Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under its wings. Day and night they never stop saying: “‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.”9 Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say:11 “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”
At first glance heaven is a place filled with riches and thrones. There are demonic looking creatures that worship God and the record is played over and over ad nauseum. When I was a teenager my brother got hooked on a song. Working on the pipeline was the song. I recall how monotonous this became and that phase didn't last more than 3 or 4 weeks. I'd say spending an eternity listening to just one beat would be horrifying.
The 24 elders who have comfortable seats don't sit on them but fall down before him and they add an additional bit of noise to the mix, Now imagine the horror of listening to Jolene by Dolly Parton and Achy Brakey hart by Billy Rae simultaneously for more than two hours, Doesn't seem at all heavenly to me. But this would be even worse it could be Cliff Richard's The devil has all the good music and "looking for a city"  youtube.com/watch?v=2D5148rRIkw simultaneously.
Seems to me any continuous chanting may just cause brain damage. Imagine listening to two chants simultaneously for a few hours, Your brain may explode. But even worse can you imaging how mind numbing it would be to lead the chants.
Next week we will continue with Revelations 5, So far heaven doesn't sound so good to me, what do you think?

Majority poverty

Being a majority has its advantages and disadvantages, based on various aspects of demographics the citizenry. As far as services are concerned it will always be the minority who will benefit most from government as their numbers can be serviced with the least of money, amenities in their areas will last longer be kept in working order better because of the low demand for it, while on the other hand in the areas of majority it is the excessive usage of services which causes numerous breakdowns and eventually no services. Read more...
