How could you , Steve Hofmeyr ?

09 July 2014, 15:20

Good heavens Steve Hofmeyr, what have you done now? What moved you to sing the old hateful National anthem at the Innie Bos art festival at Nelspruit?

You must surely be deranged to commit the most horrendous sin in recent history.

You know how hard the government is trying to create a rainbow nation where everybody loves everybody else and peace and goodwill reign supreme. Where everybody regards the country as their very own fatherland and work together to make it the most prosperous, respected and best managed country in the whole world.

You also know that the magnanimous ANC government encourage all cultures and ethnic minorities to practise their diverse cultural activities excluding hate speech of course.

Steve , however in spite of all the goodwill from the ANC's side you chose to sing the insulting anthem, Die Stem van Suid-Afrika.

Why didn't you rather sing the president's favourite , the nostalgic  "Bring my machine gun"or the emotional  "Kill the farmer , kill the Boer "  or a song about the president's magnificent Nkandla manor or a song describing the chaos in hospitals, education or the mismanagement of municipalities ?

What you should do now , Steve , is to apologise sincerely and unreservedly and promise to never ever sing that hateful song again.

In the mid 1990s the people who approached me most often for advice, counsel and coaching were white males. Towards 2000 this changed and the majority were women, often black women, occupying mid to senior management positions.  Read more...

Dear Vanessa: who is African?

Sorry to rain on your parade. I won’t take much of your time. I’m sure you have more important things to muse over than some silly drivel from a black man. Now I’m going to ask a few questions that might just sound plain silly – or unwise. That shouldn’t surprise you, seeing that you think my type is reckless anyway. Read more...
