As a Mom we are often neglectful of ourselves when it comes to the clothing department and most often, when we do go shopping for ourselves, we end up coming home with things for Dad and our kiddies.
I have found the perfect way to encourage yourself to buy new clothes and most importantly, underwear! This is a tip for both moms and dads! Dad’s can use it to get their partners to go shopping and moms can use it as an excuse to go shopping. Now you are probably wondering what can one do to do this. It’s pretty simple and reasonably cost effective.
Dads and Moms, if you have a washing machine at home, tell your partner that it is having problems washing or if you don’t have a tumble dryer and with all this rainy weather we are having, casually mention that the clothes are taking longer to dry. Suggest that the best possible solution is to take the clothes to a self service Laundromat and do it there. Make change with old R5 and R2 coins, pack in your favourite washing powder and make sure that your partner goes with. This is what recently happened to me as we don’t have a tumble dryer and with a little one who goes through a lot of clothes, the clothes was just taking too long to dry.
Now, if like me, you have “home underwear”, those that no one else besides your hubby and that is really in need of replacement, having other people see them really makes you want to go to the nearest shop and buy some new ones. It makes you realise just what exactly your partner was meaning! Now don’t get me wrong, it’s not holey pants or anything but a bit discoloured etc. Well when we got home, those little items climbed into the dustbin and I left my little one with hubby to go shopping. Now when I go to the Laundromat, I have no problem with other people seeing my washing. My hubby is happier as he doesn’t have to look at the offending items anymore and I am happier because for a change I bought something for myself!
So the moral of the story is that we should go shopping now and then for ourselves and to stay away from the aisle that make us by for the rest of the family, as you never know when someone else will be seeing your “home underwear” or clothes!
