Many of my patients come to me everyday with the same complaint - "I can't handle the stress anymore".
Well you know what? You can handle it and it is possible to free yourself from the burden of stress. The most important thing to realise is that no-one except yourself controls how you perceive things in this life. What is most probably happening is that you are over-reacting to something that is within your control. And chances are the stress is coming from a toxic individual in your life.
So, how can you learn to limit this behaviour? Firstly you need to make a list of the people that are causing you stress. Take a pen and draw a line through their names and CROSS THEM OFF YOUR LIST. They don't matter anymore. If you cannot eliminate physical contact with these people, you can emotionally shun them in anyway possible. You would be surprised how easy it is stand directly in front of someone and not take in a single word they are saying. Just nod and pretend to care, think about other things, fantasize about their demise, just do anything except take in their nonsense.
Now that you know how to cope you will feel a great weight lifted off your shoulders....
