Because God cannot be found via the traditional scientific process of observation and repetitive experiment, we have to rely on more timeless methods (which, let it be said, have never let our ancestors down). No doubt these methods are more reliable than the hit and miss which is ‘modern science’.
First consider this: You are made up of cells, which are made of molecules and atoms. But here’s the thing. Cells have a shelf life and are constantly replacing themselves as they die. What this really means is that every single cell in your body was not alive a year ago. And what this really means is that your body as you are experiencing it today was not in existence last year, the year before or ten years ago!
Yet your thoughts are still here . . . I think therefore I am!
Now riddle me this, how can your thoughts continue over and above your decaying body? How can your thoughts and memories from ten years ago still exist if the so called vehicle which produced them died back then?
Ponder now the idea of a timeless spirit. Surely, the thinking seeker will reason that the spirit exists independently of the body? How can this not be so?
Last week I posited that atheists were suffering from a psychosis. I likened this to a psychosis similar to that of a serial killer. I did not say they were inclined to murder, merely that they had a similar inability to ‘sense’ God in the same way that a serial killer cannot ‘sense’ compassion.
Well! The vindictive vitriol that I endured as a result was astonishing.
The blasphemy was breath-taking and all I will say is this: step into my church and insult our God like that to my face and I will punch you in the stomach till you double over. Then I will punch you again. . . and again.
Peter chopped off a Roman soldier’s ear for insulting our Lord. I would have chopped off his entire head because that is the anger that you raise in Christians when you insult our faith so indiscriminately.
Please, I urge you not to do it again.
