Nosimo Balindela who was recalled by the ANC from his position as a premier of Eastern Cape following a defeat of former president Thabo Mbeki by the current ANC leader president Jacob Zuma post Polokwane conference in 2007.
This has lead to the former premier to join the then promising opposition party called COPE. And now she decided to defect to Democratic Alliance.
This can be viewed as a blow to the ANC that is under fire in the EC because its members are spirally declining while they (ANC) are paving their way to Mangaung conference.
On the other hand the DA regards this moves as important victory for them because they (DA) have being struggling to win and attract black voters particular in the Eastern Cape Province where it is a strong hold of the ANC and a home to Nelson Mandela and the defect of former premier might be the answer to the movement.
The perverse utterance by Madam Hellen Zille for labeled pupil refugee as they seek better education from Eastern Cape Province to Western Cape Province will go down with history but will never be forgotten. The arrival of Nosimo Balinda to DA wills some how easy the mind shift of those pupil because such utterance are too deep to heel, even if Madam Hellen Zille has made an attempt to lick those wounds in a form of withdrawing her statement and apologizing.
The ANC spokesperson Jackson Mthembu will never cease to dismay us when he under play the floor crossing of the former premier when he said “The furthest that she rose in leadership terms was being a regional chairperson of the ANC” yes it is true but to continue and saying “the DA had nothing to celebrate" It is naïve of him to say that because giving a blind eye to such inference it might have a denting effect prior or post Mangaung if not in a long run. Surely DA will take advantage of Jackson Mthembu’s utterance by taping in that province while using Nosimo Belindela as their key to make a building block of black supporters for DA in the next elections. It is highly and likely to see more prominent people particularly former senior ANC or COPE members joining the DA as their alternative movement in a never future. It will be interesting to see how everything will unfold when that happens.
