I believe in evolution

21 September 2012, 15:08

“The highest possible stage in moral culture is when we recognize that we ought to control our thoughts”. – Charles Darwin

“Let there be light”, and this was good. To understand the beginning of time is like trying to guess what’s in the box by shaking it, even if you get it right you will never be sure until you open the box or in a loose scenario your gift giver says “it’s just a pair of socks”. It is a pity that we do not have giver to tell us what exactly happened during the dawn of time, all we can do is shake and guess our brains out.

The origin of life is another mouthful event that we have to swallow, all thanks to Stanley and Harold you tricksters. I don’t get it, if amino acids came first or probably RNAs (ribozymes) were there too and not forgetting the lipids, what drove the incomprehensible, intricate organisation of these molecules to form biotic cells. A series of random, undirected events and probably something to do with thermodynamics is what suffices to be the lead hypothesis of our latest shake. Hypothetically this means that I can take a load of bricks, mix them with clay and launch them off a cliff until a castle starts to form over time, given I have enough material and the atmosphere is in my favour. After my castle has completely formed it will figure out that it needs doors and windows to survive the forever changing weather. It will learn how to fix leaks on the roof and cracks on the floor, well basically because “nothing makes sense unless in the light of evolution or something like that” said Theodosius the big hypocrite. Maybe one day we will see the fish that walks out of the river for a quick gulp of air - or have amphibians already done that and it turned out not to be as convincing as we would like it to be.

It seems like evolution has not been as creative as you would expect randomness to be. A single idea has been the core from these undirected, random events. Nucleotides this nucleotides that, DNA then tah dah, we all have a common ancestor. It’s like once my castle has been completely built, I wouldn’t be able to build another one completely different from the one I already have, unless I  copy the first one, talk about being biased. I think that’s why they killed viruses; it just did not fit inside the nicely wrapped box. Then again nature selects the best so whatever did not stand the test of time it had to be chucked away or hid by millions and millions of years.

“Evolution is unproved and unprovable. We believe it only because the only alternative is special creation, and that is unthinkable.”- Sir Arthur Keith

“To suppose that the eye…could have been formed by natural selection, seems, I freely confess, absurd in the highest degree.”- Charles Darwin

“Evolutionists will argue against design using arguments they designed”- Walt Brown

“Biology is the study of complicated things that have the appearance of having been designed with a purpose.”- Richard Dawkins

“The extreme rarity of transitional forms in the fossil record persists as the trade secret of paleontology”- Stephen Jay Gould

“In fact, over the last 100 years, almost all of biology has proceeded independent of evolution, except evolutionary biology itself. Molecular biology, biochemistry, physiology, have not taken evolution into account at all.”- Dr Marc Kirschner

“The deepest sin against the human mind is to believe things without evidence” - Thomas Huxley

“I do not want to believe in God…therefore I choose to believe in that which I know is scientifically impossible, spontaneous generation arising to evolution.”- George Wald

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth…For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness…Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools”- Apostle Paul (Romans 1)
