Do modern churchgoers attend church for the right reasons? Well I'm not an expert, but I will tell you what I think, based on my experiences as far as us people and modern churches are concerned.
Firstly, they want to go to church only when they have a new outfit or just one new item at least. I really do not understand why they have to look so good just to go and praise the Lord. It always shocks me to see them being so boastful about their possessions(educational wealth, cars, clothing and lifestyle) when they should be channeling those actions to the Lord and how GREAT he is.
I am so proud to be black and I'm loving every split second of it, yet when I look at some of the things my fellow blacks do in todays' churches, I just feel like digging a hole in the ground and jumping in head first! Why must they be so glamorous and fancy? I ask myself, do these people even think of the Lord on their way to church, or do they just worry about the way they look or seem?
Church has become a platform for some of these families to brag and showcase their wealth to their communities, not to brag about their LOVE and their BELIEF in God. If being a "True" CHRISTIAN means you have to be the most fashionable and expensive in church, then I'd rather go to the OLD FASHIONED "boring" churches with dull uniforms where the congregation praises GENUINELY and sincerely. At least they go to church for the right reasons.
