It’s been a source of great concern for me for quite a while now; the creationist community has been obsessed with disproving any claims pointing to the validity of evolution as the explanation for biological diversity on earth. And there does seem to be mounting evidence.
The scientific community is bending over backwards to unearth evidence that supports or refutes evolutionary theory; they cite scientific papers, paleontological studies & discoveries ad nauseum. They go to great lengths to provide watertight evidence for this theory.
By contrast, the creationist community doesn’t seem to need evidence for creation at all; the scientific community can’t refute ‘no evidence’ and yet this seems to be fine! Surely conflicting theories would have conflicting evidence and the one with the strongest evidence should be accepted as superior?
It’s ‘reason & evidence’ Vs. ‘Ignorance & faith’; the latter seems to be the trump card? WTF!
If you went to two different investment advisors asking for advice, one pulled out charts & stats on his track record, the other said, ‘follow me & have faith my brother’ which one would you invest with? (OK, if the charts & stats didn’t look good, maybe neither). Why is it that so many choose the Faith guy for arguably the most important question we need answered?
My question is: why is a ‘no evidence required’ theory even relevant?
Should the question not be ‘is evolutionary theory valid? If not, what scientific explanation would be better?’
Not ‘if you can’t understand it, god did it!’
I don’t fully understand gravity, why does mass attract mass? What gives matter mass? What is the Higgs Field? Why does the moon orbit the earth?
Not understanding how it works, does not lead me to believe ‘God did it’.
