I vote ANC because I was taught to think for myself

04 December 2013, 13:17

Yes I know; some will read the title of my article and then decide not to read any further. Your prerogative.

Let me start by saying that no, I did not go to university. I was never good at school, was good in sport, but never in school. That itself in the minds of purported educated people render me unfit to vote and explain why I vote ANC. I’ve heard all those arguments. Also just to clarify, I’ve heard about corruption within the ANC too and I know some, again of the purported individuals will call me an idiot for supporting a “corrupt” government.

So now you may ask; why is this one voting ANC, when the DA purports to be a better alternative. I do so, not blinded by their well-documented mistakes. I support any notion of any person being found guilty of corruption to be punished by the full might of the law. There is an insurmountable fact that no government have ever been or ever will be without fault, mistakes and / or corruption. Sad truth for most reader; not even your DA if it would ever come into power will be exempt from that. It is clear already if you have ever been to Knysna, Midvaal and some surrounding places in the Western Cape where they are in power. Suffice to ask; why vote for them then? Maybe the same reason why I vote ANC; I vote ANC because I was taught to think for myself.

People seem to think voting for a white man will bring back apartheid. I know that to be devoid of all truth, hence I’m voting ANC not because of the race of its leaders, but because I studied its policies. I know most of the purported smart individuals that will ridicule everything I am saying will not have read the ANC’s policy. Most of them support DA, but I bet most of them would not even have read the DA’s. Yet they will vote DA for similar reasons some of my comrades vote ANC. I have read the DA policy, similar document to that of the ANC. Comparing these two very concise policies, I made the conscious election that too me, the ANC policy speaks more to South Africa. I know it is right about here where the purported clever individuals will argue that it is in its implementation where policies come to pass. I concede to that and if you were to say that the ANC isn’t fully implanting its policy, I again concede to that. The thing is, me knowing DA policy, it is funny to note that in places where they are in power they are not fully implanting their policy too, yet you vote for them. Is it not the same as some of my comrades blindly following the ANC?

Popular perception is that only uneducated people vote ANC and that it is wrong of the ANC to use these so called uneducated masses. The thing is, for the DA to be elected into government that very same uneducated masses need to vote for them. Can the inference therefore be made that the difficulty here is not that the ANC use these so called uneducated masses, but that the DA is failing to do same? The perception that only stupid idiots vote ANC to me is somewhat disingenuous as it would infer that when an ex ANC supporter elects to changes its vote to DA, they would immediately be less of a stupid idiot. (that makes a lot of sense, don’t it)

I vote ANC because I was taught to think for myself. I will not be vote DA because I’m scared you may think I am a fool. Be my guess call me a fool. I know one thing, most of you vote DA, only as an alternative to the ANC not because you have studied it. So how does that make you less of a fool than me and all the other uneducated masses?
