This is a bit of a funny one ladies and gents. Lets do dis.
AS South Africans, we have a truly entrenched need for expression our rights and our feelings towards things we see and hear (like the rest of the world) and we like to toy toy and shout until the people higher up hear us. Whatever the case may be...the destruction of the to e-tolls...the banning of Julius Malema...the decrease in petrol prices...the banning of ANCYL (I WISH!!!)...whichever cause we fight for, I feel as a nation and people with high opinion, we talk more than we do.
We come on the forum, express our hatrid for ANC (on a regular basis), we complain about service delivery, we complain about food prices, the police services, crime etc...but do we really DO anything about it? We give the best solutions and say we should do this and that...but when push comes to shove...we delay it for a day and deal with it tomorrow.
If South Africa were to become an internet meme (Google MEME) we would be the laughing stock of Earth.
Let me explain:
"I would go and protest outside the ANC about how shoddy their government is...but I need to update my Facebook contacts"
"I would go and picket against corruption, but I'm going to Sandton for lunch"
"I would go and protest against Zuma's 2nd term, but I'm cleaning my house for a tea evening"
"I would go and help stop crime, but I broke a nail and need to rest in bed"
"I would go and help the people on the side of the road, but i'm waiting for quotes from Hippo (any day now...)"
"I would go and tell that taxi to 'f*k off' but i'll be late for the movie at Bedfordview if i do"
"I would go and donate money to fix the pot-holes, but i need to use the money to pay for parking, and mcDonalds, and groceries, and pay my tv licence, and get a new cellphone contract..."
and finally...
"I would go and and reduce my carbon-footprint but I'm out of energy saving lightbulbs"
You get the idea? xD
We talk and complain and say we would do the greatest things...but we ALWAYS seem to be so busy and caught up in the workings of life and friends that we just think "Meh, tomorrow".
If we don't take action and actually DO things, we'll always be in a state of complaining and procrastination (sounds like the current governement HAHA!) and never get around to doing anything (ANC again lol)
