When one looks at the history books one cannot ignore the deeds of the people that sacrificed themselves for their cause. From Nelson Mandela to Joan of Arc and beyond, mankind celebrates their actions.
And when I look at the world today I truly believe that it’s state and pending destruction is a direct consequence of people’s unwillingness to make personal sacrifice. From Global warming to deep poverty, humanity is not willing to take the necessary actions today to ensure tomorrows future. The destruction of nature seems a direct cause of the human attitude of ‘win at all cost’ and ‘why should I if you don’t’. Poverty seems a direct result of the haves protecting their assets from the have not’s.
These imbalances cannot continue. We need Leaders in every corner of the world to stand up and start preaching the virtues of sacrifice. And not only 67 minutes of sacrifice. A realization needs to grow that the sacrifices we make for our children and for our families are the sacrifices that need to be made for each and every other human in this world of ours.
We all need to find the greatness within ourselves.
