If Jacob Zuma could only be like Nelson Mandela
After this past weekends ANC Centenary celebrations, many South Africans are once again saying "If Jacob Zuma could only be like Nelson Mandela".
My wish is, if we all could only be like Mandela. Because too many of us admire Nelson Mandela selectively. But we don't embrace all the principles and values that makes the man the great person that he is, for us, for South Africa, and the world. We don't all share his values of non-racialism, forgiveness, reconciliation and nation building.
These are the values that are much needed in South Africa today.
We cannot distance ourselves from the change that we wish to happen in South Africa by only expecting others to change.
The change for a better South Africa starts with each individual. Not with someone else.
South Africa won't change for the better if Jacob Zuma becomes like Nelson Mandela. South Africa will change for the better if we all become like Nelson Mandela.
