I'm just saying...

11 February 2014, 13:42

I am not an economist, journalist or politician. I work for a living. I am not a racist either far from it but there are delicate things that need to be said. The notion that 'whities' got everything for free is the biggest lie of all. Most of us had to work our backsides off to pay for the things we have and are still paying! Yes we had rights our African  brothers didnt an undeniable and very sad fact. To rectify this as best possible Africans have been allowed the majority of opportunities for just on 20 years now but why is then that in this time we have managed to gain one of the most corrupt, inefficient and unproductive public and civil services in the world?

To those lilly white die hard ultra liberals who try their damnest to make the rest of us Whities look like the Devil. Dont talk crap either. When Whites came to South Africa our Africans brothers and sisters didnt own or occupy every inch of the country. Whilst some no doubt did most whites immigrants did not steal land or property that belonged to others so stop trying to paint that picture as you are just creating more of a wedge between us all. .

On education if we really think 30% pass rate is good enough for Varsity or is going to impress an employer think again. This coupled with most people's propensity just to strike when things don't go their way is going to cripple our country's ability to attract any meaningful investment.

Lastly we dont say it but many know what the REAL problem is not only here but in Africa period. Simply put we just have far far too many people chasing far too few jobs and in an enviromnet that doesnt not have the capacity or incliniation to invest in more jobs especially given that one's investment in constantly under threat. We have to slow down our population growth and capacity to destroy what has been built up failing which in 5,10, 15 and 20 years time we will be far worse off.

You see the ANC or whoever can promise what they want but they can only do what taxes and investments allow them to do. Public Works programs can only do so much. This is not permanent emplyment and is paid for from taxes like social grants. Whilst throughout Africa the Golden Geese have all but flown away we still have many geese of all colours in South Africa but unless reality kicks in our people will simply be left to scrap over meagre pickings and force us to descend into yet another African 'Banana' Republic.

And stop blaming colonisation for is has brought many good things too. The world over colonisation took place but only in Africa we seem not to want to get beyond it and move on.

The longer i live in my beloved South Africa the more it seems that we in Africa always want and need to have blame someone or something else for our woes. We never blame on our own failures. The democratic 'western' countries are all self critical and hold each other to account constanty and this is why it works. We in South Africa and Africa as a whole need to be far more self critical of our own shortcomings and hold people to account in order to free ourselves from the shackles of political, economic, cultural and moral bankruptcy.

I'm just saying........
