I am fortunate enough to be able to imitate Nelson Mandela's voice, almost perfectly.
In 1997, I and a partner attended a Presidential Banquet in Cape Town. We were honoured to be asked to make our way to a room away from the hall, to meet President Mandela.
Among the guests who lined up, excitedly, were Raymond Ackerman and his wife, who were immediately in front of us, so we awaited our turn patiently.
When my turn came to be very professionally introduced by John Reinders, his Director of Protocol, who, in perfect timing whispered to the President who I was, I, for some inexplicable reason began talking to him about the $250 000 that we had, through the K2 Inline Skates company, collected for his Children's Fund, in my "Mandela Language".
He was absolutely still. Then, he raised his finger, smiled broadly, and gave me a massive hug! "Mike Hermanson, you make me laugh" he said "and "I thank you"
