I heard on SAFM this morning a brilliant thing to quote! Ms Ntombi Mekgwe, MEC for housing said, "If you find a way of dealing with Organised Crime without being inhuman, please tell me about it." She was pointing out that people whose houses were being bulldozed down have known since 2006 that the land on which they were building bond houses in Lenasia was fraudulently gotten.
They were of Common Purpose in building houses in breach of the law. The courts gave a green light for the Housing department to demolish the houses. The outcry that the Department is Inhuman, demolishing people's houses is supported by many organisations, including the SA Human Rights Commission! The matter that irks me is that, the defenders of human rights Never come out in defence of Law and Order.
While people are breaking the law and inciting violence and intimidation, they do not get court orders to Stop the lawlessness and Ungovernability. The same SAHRC has been demanding that people who are in RSA illegally and held at Lindela Detention Centre be released back into South Africa - inspite of the fact that they continue to break the immigration laws of South Africa!
The Home Affairs Department is supposed to stand back, as do the Public Order Police watching people burn farms in De Doring, and allow pandemonium, arson and lawlessness to corrupt the rest of our country! How far down the road of Ungovernability must our country go before the President decides to be firm and take control?
